Premium Pressure Gauge Glycerine (99.5% Pure)

Our premium-grade glycerine is 99.5% pure, completely non-toxic, and 100% vegetable-derived. Specially formulated for use with process pressure gauges, it serves a critical dual purpose: it effectively dampens and steadies a fluctuating pointer for rapid, accurate readings, while simultaneously lubricating the gauge’s internal mechanism to extend its working life.

Versatile Application & Retrofitting

  • Topping Up Fluid Levels: Ideal for topping up existing glycerine-filled gauges that have experienced a drop in fluid level over time.
  • On-Site Retrofitting: Can be used to retrospectively fill standard “glycerine-fillable” dry gauges directly on-site, saving you the time and expense of returning the instrument to us for filling.
  • Note: Not all pressure gauges are suitable for liquid filling. Please contact the Test Plugs Ltd technical team to verify your gauge’s suitability before attempting to fill it.

Important Filling Guidelines

⚠️ Do Not Fully Fill the Gauge: An internal air pocket is absolutely vital to allow the glycerine to safely expand and contract during ambient temperature shifts. If a gauge is overfilled, the internal pressure will force the glycerine out through the filling rubber bung.

Temperature & Operating Limits

  • Ambient Temperature Range: Strictly rated for use between -20°C and +60°C.
  • High-Temperature Warning: Avoid using glycerine in environments exceeding +60°C. At these higher temperatures, the fluid will begin to brown and discolour, making the gauge dial difficult or impossible to read.
  • Viscosity Considerations: Please note that the natural viscosity of glycerine fluctuates with changes in ambient temperature, which can slightly alter gauge response times and readings.
